Performance issue in Looker Studio Connector

What is the issue?

Sporadically, you would see that the Report is slow and takes more time to load data in the dashboard. Due to one of the following:

Data source is trying to fetch large number of records. e.g., 1000+ records.
Connector's API page size is small. e.g., 100 records per page.
API has a rate limit. e.g., 50 requests per minute.

When you face the slow data loading, your Looker Studio Report will become time-consuming and unproductive.

How to improve dashboard performance?

When the report is taking time to load the data from the data source. Please consider using extract data shown in the below image:

What is Extract Data?

Data extract creates a snapshot of your data. This can speed up your reports load and be more responsive when applying filters and date ranges than when working with a live connection to your data.

How to Extract Data from a Data source?

Step 1: Click on the following link:
https://lookerstudio.google.com/datasources/create

Step 2: Enter the Extract Data.

Step 3: Click on the Extract Data. (shown the image)

Step 4: Choose a data source from the dropdown.

Step 5: Add Dimensions and Metrics to extract data.

Step 6: (Optional) Set Auto Update as per requirement.

Does Extract Data support date range and filters?

Yes, Extract Data supports date range and filter. (shown in the image)

What if the Extract data failed to extract data from the data source?

Apps Script services have daily quotas and limitations on some features. If you exceed a quota or limitation, the connector throws an exception and execution stops.

One of them is if the connector unable to process the data within 6 minutes, the connector failed to extract the data.

Limitation

Extracted data sources can contain up to 100 MB of data.
Extracted data sources contain static information: to refresh or update the data, turn on Auto update and set an update schedule.
